America’s father dies, but he leaves behind a very encouraging letter that ends up giving America the courage to do what she needs to do-fight for Maxon and admit she loves him. Maxon meets the leader of the rebels and Maxon learns he wants to help and is refreshingly not hungry for power. The King continues his reign of terror threatening America every chance he gets. The homeless girl alludes to the prostitutes doing drugs to “ease the pain.” A guest at a party is drunk. America is given “amber liquid” for the pain-turns out it’s liquor. America is called a slut by another contestant.Īspen continues to receive injections to help keep him strong. He** (6), Da**(7), God’s name is misused a few times. America learns that thousands of people have been killed from rebel attacks. We learn that Anne, the King and the Queen are killed in the final rebel attack. America meets a homeless girl that admits her step-mother hit her. Maxon and America come close twice (one is really close) to having sex and are interrupted both times.Īmerica is shot and Anne must sew her up. America is offered a job as a prostitute by a homeless girl she meets. Maxon and America have some very heated make-out sessions.
The girls watch the shirtless guards run around the backyard, sizing up who is more attractive. It doesn’t stop Maxon from ogling her first though. It turns out, he hasn’t done much more than kiss the other girls and Maxon laughs at her and leaves when she basically throws herself at him. No mention of God or an intelligent design.Īmerica comes to dinner one night in a seductive dress. Unfortunately, she is trying to get Maxon’s attention and is trying to compete in what she thinks are the "physical advances" he is making with the other girls. The message is clear: Together, we can change things for the better. At one point, even admitting that if it wasn’t for her, he may not have even considered the treatment of the lower castes. He has never wanted for anything, yet he is able to see Illea through America’s eyes. Maxon has been sheltered and abused most of his life. She is concerned with ending the poor treatment of the people and she is bothered by the evil nature of the founding of Illea. Maxon is compassionate and wants to improve the lives of the people of Illea.Īmerica views the world through the eyes of the caste. Georgia replies, “Not wanting the crown means you’re probably the best person to have it.” America refuses to send a man to prison for the rest of his life even though it meant making the King angry. At one point America says she doesn't want the crown. America continues to be smart in her approach to helping Illea. Maxon is willing to meet with the rebels to consider what is best for the country. Will he choose America? Can Maxon end the pending war?Īspen is brave and has risen from his meager social standing to become a well respected solider.
